I guess the Spaceviews are probably the most sought after Accutrons...judging
by the number of conversions that are out there.
Even in the genuine Spaceviews, there are several dial styles; some have
chapter rings, while others do not. Hands vary as well.
All 214 suffer one problem: they were originally designed to run on 1.3 volt
mercury button cells. When mercury cells were phased out in the mid 1990s, owners
had to switch to the modern Silver Oxide cell of the same size, but these
run at 1.5 volts; sometimes this results in the Accutron running very fast or not all.
Over the years, various solutions have been put forward ranging from altering the internal
electrical components of the watch to creating a special battery. In the latter case,
the
Accucell is the best known.
But in my experience, almost all 214s can be made to run on a standard 1.5 volt Silver Oxide
battery with
very careful adjustment --- with no need to alter the watch or the battery.
