One problem with collecting is that you need an awful lot of batteries! Luckily, when bought in bulk (boxes of 10), they work out pretty cheap.

Use the industry standard Reference Number in the first column whenever possible.

• HS: High drain silver oxide
• LS: Low drain silver oxide
• LM: Low drain mercury oxide --- no longer available

A few notes about batteries for Bulova Accutron 214 watches: These watches originally took the 387 1.3 volt mercury oxide battery which is no longer available. This was replaced by the 1.5 volt silver oxide version, the 387S which is not listed in the table below because this is also no longer generally available from the big battery suppliers. You can still buy individual 387S batteries on the internet although prices seem to be quite high. However, this battery does come with the crucial plastic collar that the 214 requires, so if you don't have an orginal plastic collar, a 387S is a good buy. Once you have the re-usable collar, you can buy the much more common, and cheaper, 394 battery --- use the 394 with your old collar. You may still need to get your 214 professionally adjusted to run correctly on 1.5 volt silver oxide batteries.
